HF: Many marriages break up over infidelity, often after counseling or talk therapy doesn’t help them ease the pain or repair their relationship. Tell us how you’ve helped couples recover quickly after an affair and make their marriage better than ever.
TC: One couple I’ve helped had been married 3 years when she had an affair. They tried to work through it during a year and a half of talk therapy, which only made them feel worse because they kept talking about their problems. Their divorce papers were ready to be filed when they came to me because they’d heard my work was different.
They walked out of my office a few hours later feeling more in love than ever, because I helped them change their future and forgive themselves, since each of them had negative patterns in relationships that they had acted out their whole lives.
HF: How did you help them forgive an affair that quickly?
TC: I created the only therapy in the world that is based on your connection with the future. So I asked them one question: How clear is your vision of an ideal relationship? They said they didn’t know. I told them that is their single biggest problem. The affair is not your problem. What’s gone on in your past is not your problem. The problem is you cannot see a destination where you’ll be happy and get the love you want. I said that it’s true for both of them.
Though she’d had the affair, I helped them see that in their current relationship with the future, they’d expected love to hurt, life to be a challenge and relationships to be difficult because that’s what they had both grown up with.
HF: How did they turn around their marriage in a few hours?
TC: I pointed out that it takes two people to create an affair. She had the affair but he had been neglecting her so much that she went out and had the affair. I helped them see they each are creating their own future and 100 percent responsible for their own life.
If they got their divorce as planned today, I almost guaranteed them that they’d be back for help in their next relationship while having almost the same problems. Because the problem was in each of them creating a negative future around relationships, since that’s what they saw as a child. If they didn’t change that course, then nothing would change. They used my worksheets to design their ideal future.
HF: So they changed their childhood programming and created a great future by filling out your worksheets as their first step?
TC: Yes. And I’ll give these Free worksheets to your community along with an audio of me guiding them, so they can do the same thing at home.
HF: So if you’re part of a couple, designing your future will transform your relationship. What if you’re looking for love? How do you find it by using this process?
TC: You need to imagine an ideal relationship so you can see and feel yourself in a healthy happy relationship before you go out and date and pick the same kinds of problems that you did before.
You have to be clear and change the future–change the course of the Titanic first. Then you go out and date. Then you look at the reasons why you haven’t found love, like bad programming for relationships in the past. Now you change that in the future.
You choose the destination you want. If you just try to change in the now and you don’t change your future, you’re still riding on the titanic.
