The Week of Adventures offers you a chance to try some new activities in a fun and safe environment. You will have full tuition to help you learn to kayak in inflatable kayaks down a beautiful, clean class II/III river. Next up is a downhill mountain bike from the highest volcano in Costa Rica and past the active Turrialba Volcano, all the way back to our base town. It’s a challenging but fun ride in a rural part of the country with spectacular views. As the week continues we will then board rafts and do a two day rafting trip one of the top 5 whitewater raft rivers in the world. The river is clean and beautiful with primary rainforest, awesome canyons and exciting class III/IV rapids.
The highlight of the week is the two night stay in the jungle lodge, perched high above the river in a small jungle clearing you will be delighted with the tranquility and natural setting. This is also a great place to bird watch early in the morning or evening. While there we will also take you on a short hike to a canopy/zipline course through the treetops. From the river take out we will head to the southern coast for some fun beach time. We have surfboards, inflatable kayaks, boogie boards etc for you to play on, or you can relax in the sun with a good book. In the afternoon we take you on a boat snorkeling tour in a marine national park where you should be able to see large schools of fish, and then hike out past monkeys and sloths!

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Please Note: You will experience six to seven hours of guided and moderate adventure activity per day. No experience with any activities is required to join, but experience with mountain biking over uneven terrain and regular exercise prior to the trip will greatly increase the amount of fun you will have. Based on the rigorous nature of our trips we do not permit pregnant guests to join. Please consult your physician before committing to this type of trip and the involved exercise involved.
PASSPORT & VISA:
You will need a valid passport to enter Costa Rica. Currently citizens of the USA, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Israel, Japan, Panama, Romania, South Korea, Taiwan, Uruguay, the UK, France and most other Western European countries do not need a visa for a 90-day stay. Citizens of Australia, Ireland, Iceland, India, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, Vatican City and most of Eastern Europe and Latin America can stay 30 days without a visa.
Please check with a Costa Rican Embassy or consulate several months prior to your trip if you are unsure of your visa requirements. If you are traveling on a non-US passport and your flight itinerary takes you through the USA you now need to complete the ESTA online registration. This is a free registration required by the US government and was brought into effect in January 2009. This registration should be completed at least 72 hours prior to travel and is valid for 2 years.
HEALTH & IMMUNIZATIONS:
Costa Rica has safe drinking water and a good public health system. But you may be exposed to tropical diseases, which you should be immunized in advance. In the U.S. check with the Center for Disease Control’s website http://www.cdc.gov/ or 404-639-3311. You should also check with your physician for health planning and immunizations prior to this trip.
CANCELLATION POLICY:
Guests who have made a deposit and need to postpone their trip due to an illness, emergency, or personal reason, and maintain their deposit with Costa Rica Rios, may rebook their trip at no charge within a year. For guests who have paid for their trip and need to cancel, Costa Rica Rios will charge the following penalties from the total trip price:
46+ days prior to trip start day – 20%
31-45 days prior to trip start day – 40%
1-30 days prior to trip start day – 50%
