Find Love Secrets In Paulo Coelho's New Novel, Aleph – Book Review

Each time I begin a solo cross-country drive, I listen first to the audiobook of The Alchemist, and I fall in love again with Jeremy Irons as he reads Paulo Coelho’s novel to me. On my next road trip, I’ll also listen to Paolo Coehlo’s new novel, Aleph. It is inspired by his personal journey of self discovery designed to revitalize his energy and passion. This is what you may experience while reading Aleph, but only if you keep an open heart and mind about the events unfolding in each chapter.

You could spend years studying universal laws to gain the wisdom Paulo Coehlo shares in Aleph, as he takes us on his mystical journey through time and space, traveling a path that teaches love, forgiveness and inspires courage to overcome life’s challenges. This love story spans many lifetimes which were needed to receive forgiveness for a past betrayal that prevents the author-protagonist from finding real happiness now.

Be prepared to expand your view of the what happens in the present moment. You will discover how to access “Aleph,” which is the point at which everything is in the same place at the same time. It sounds to me as if the Aleph is the life review that we all supposedly make the instant we die, when every image of your life appears simultaneously.

For the living to invoke the Aleph, Paolo says something very powerful has to happen: a huge orgasm, a terrible loss, the climax of a great conflict, a moment of ecstasy when confronted by rare beauty.

In the Aleph, Paolo illustrates how the child you once were is alive in the present moment along with the person you are now and the one you will become. This also is true for past lifetimes that come alive in the present moment. I won’t spoil the surprise of how this unfolds. As you witness this process of discovery, betrayal, forgiveness and love that endures lifetimes, you may learn to understand love secrets that the brain refuses to accept.

Aleph invites us to consider the meaning of our own personal journey. Paolo writes, “The magical and the extraordinary are with me and with everyone in the Universe at all time, but sometimes we forget and have to be reminded, even if we have to cross the largest continent in the world from one side to the other.”

After Paolo leaves his beloved wife at home in Brazil, and he journeys to Africa and then to Europe and Asia via the Trans-Siberian railway, he ultimately is reminded, “I am not a foreigner, because we all are traveling, we are all full of same questions, the same tiredness, the same fears, the same selfishness, and the same generosity. I am not a foreigner because when I asked, I received. When I knocked, the door opened. When I looked, I found.”

In Aleph, you will find love secrets you may not even know you are looking for. You will see how Paulo decides to begin again, to travel, to experiment, to connect on profound levels with people and with nature’s beauty. You will see how victims of persecution can become exalted, and whether their persecutors should be avenged.

As that theme unfolds, you will discover how Paulo, a 60 year old, married writer, faces his growing desire for a 21 year old virtuoso violinist who joins him on the journey. As this scenario was set up, I cringed in disappointment that Paulo would portray yet another mid-life cliche’.

I should’ve known better than to underestimate his wise heart. I was delighted to discover how Paolo Coehlo transforms overwhelming desire into everlasting love. Enjoy this magical journey, and don’t be surprised if it transforms your love life.
