The good news from our series is that you now know about the 12 week year and how it achieves your best dreams and plans in the next 12 weeks. We all know there is a big difference between knowing and doing.
In Part 4 of the summary of my A Lasting Love radio interview with Brian P. Moran, a corporate executive and success coach to Fortune 500 companies who designed The 12-Week Year, you will discover how to begin your 12 week year right now.

It’s a universal law that what we focus on expands. An acronym for FOCUS is Follow One Course Until Successful. What inspired you to use this concept in The 12 Week Year?
In the 1970’s trainers of athletes started using the concept of periodization, which is developing one skill for 4-6 weeks at a time until you are successful at it. After studying the results, I realized that we could produce greater results when we shorten our time frame and intensify our focus on one or two key areas. That’s how the 12 Week Year was born.
Let’s say we’re ready to accomplish our 12 month goals, plans and dreams in the next 12 weeks. What steps do we take right now to begin our 12 week year today?
You can take 7 simple steps that will have an amazing impact on your life:
Step 1. Set some time aside to envision for your life that is great, not good. Start by looking out over the next three years and seeing what a great life looks like for you. Dream big, because big changes are often easier to implement than little changes, according to a study by Dr. Ornish, who tried to get patients to change their lifestyle after a heart attack.
Step 2. Set one to three goals at the most that you can achieve to fulfill your vision. You’ll know you are living that vision when you fulfill these goals in the next 12 weeks.
Step 3. Develop your plan for each of the goals. What are the 3 critical actions you need to take in each area to fulfill these goals. Less is more. If you can accomplish the goal in three actions the you don’t need four.
Step 4. Execute weekly. Don’t let your action plan sit in a folder. Look at it every week and every day. Make sure that your actions in each day and week follow the guidelines in your plan.
Step 5. Measure your daily results in a success journal. A great way to end a day is to focus on the progress you’ve made and the positive things that happened that day.
Then give thanks for all the things that are working right, instead of focusing on the few things that aren’t. Feeling gratitude and focusing on your progress promotes more progress.
Step 6. Celebrate and recognize your progress every day and every week. Don’t wait for everything to be perfect to feel joy in making progress on your vision and bringing out the best in yourself every day.
Step 7. Start right now; don’t put it off. You don’t need any tools to create your vision or imagine how your great life and relationships will look like in three years. Or one year. Or the next 12 weeks. Then choose the key actions you need to take and do them daily. That’s it.
That’s the simple system and success tools that help you live your best dreams right now.
