The 10 Commandments list 10 things you can’t do–if you want to live a holy, happy life.
Most spiritual traditions have the same list of don’ts. The common rule is, “Don’t cause pain.”
Traditional Buddhist texts talk about Right Action, which prohibits actions or inaction that causes “hiri” and “ottappa” often translated as “moral shame” and “moral dread.”
Let’s look at Right Action as a Can Do Code of Ethics.
You can do anything that doesn’t cause pain from the action or its consequences which often echo beyond the act itself.
With this can do code of ethics, you choose each action consciously and carefully, because everything you do, or fail to do, has consequences that matter.
Do you appreciate the power and responsibility in every single action you take?
How can you change your actions to change your results in life and love?
